Inspired by my morning thoughts...
When the much anticipated day came this fall, when I had to take my oldest of four children to college, the one person I thought to call was my best friend from high school. She had been the one to receive me in Michigan just days after my daughter was born. I had recently used the baby picture of this visit, "her first trip," in the graduation slideshow. When I arrived at the college dorm with my daughter my friend was there to greet me.
True friendships are valuable in life.
Cherished over many years, many of those friendships represent a loyal support, bond of time, history and unconditional love . Just one spoken word or look can trigger an uncontrollable laughter like no other shared in the world. It is sacred, friendship. During our adolescent trials, growing up and building character, we made choices, took risks and survived this fragile time.
Some say "I would never do high school over again"...Well after seeing all your faces and remembering all of the great times...I just don't know that I would say the same.
I happen to work across from the building where I attended high school...every day I hear the school activity and see the kids walk by my store front. I wave and think back about all the great times, the packs of bubble yum chewed, nail polish, markers purchased to write those long notes to the F, BF,BFF's ,and on a side note... every once in a while I go to Steak & Shake for a big chocolate milkshake ....just because!
Someone recently sent a message to say hello. And they included
"I remember you used to make me laugh." Well... I want to assure all that I am that same person. I know where I have been and everyday I look forward to the future with gratitude, enthusiasm and tons of humor!!

They give us tremendous gifts..."

ReplyDeleteThat mirror is exquisite! I also work near my old school. Kind of strange, but also interesting.
