"Colorful" Market

High Point Market Spring 2010… what an extraordinary trip! Yes, to some there were lines, large crowds, slow elevators and shuttles that were on all accounts...LATE! For one designer everyday!! However, that was not me, I enjoyed every single moment. I would jump out of bed & rush for that shuttle, put on my iPod and quietly plan my attack for the day. As we approached the transportation center, I could not wait to meet my girls and get moving across the thousands of square feet of fabulous furniture, lighting and accessories. The manufacturers that we visited did a beautiful job with color, fabric and presentation. All of our reps were terrific and greeted my team like family.

The talented individuals who designed the collections were available in their showrooms to meet and talk shop. They were genuinely excited about their products and the new spring introductions. Well, we know I love design and my job. It is a great thing to be inspired by all of these new products. I have the pleasure of integrating the new product into my client’s homes and improving their lives. It's incredible to me that I am so fortunate to work in such a creative business with beautiful choices. So yes... I saw the furniture, colors, trends and textures; which I have pictured here on the blog. But I come away with more than just product knowledge this season; this market was about the people. I became familiar with Leslie Carothers, of The Kaleidoscope Partnership (@tkpleslie) thru Twitter. We are Twitter friends and she is a superstar in the Social Media world. She travels all over speaking on Social Media Strategy, training and benefits to the Home Furnishings Industry. Leslie is always sharing and connecting people together. Which brings me to @maybellinete, a lovely person in the furniture industry & about to launch her line, Snug Furniture. These ladies invited us to a WithIt event in High Point. Within minutes we were surrounded by incredible woman. (Few gentlemen) All accomplished professionals ready to assist with my future business plans. First, let me say to walk in a room and have people say, "@jbint is here!" or "Oh my gosh @jbint I love what you tweet" was hysterical...but more importantly, they knew me. They were paying attention. They knew my work and that on occasion the music takes over... and I rock out!! Funny thing is that, if you share in 140 or less...design, interiors, fashion, shoes or soap the passion of your dreams comes thru in a few tiny words and sentences.

The power of Social Media for the first time was a reality for my team and especially for @jbint!

The blog song is "Colorful"

"You're the most colorful thing that I've seen
You're the most beautiful thing that I've seen
You are so colorful..."
